The comms radio is an item used for 4-6 functions, depending on settings. It is the first item the game tells the player to pick up, during the tutorial. It has a display, that provide the player with informations regarding active function. A laser beam comes out of it to make it easier to point at objects. The beam color varies accordingly to the selected function.

"Switch" (red beam) is the default option. Pointing the radio at any switch and activating the radio will change the direction the switch is pointing. When hovering over a switch, a left or right arrow indicating the switch's orientation in relation to the player's perspective will appear on the bottom right of the screen.

"Rerail" (green beam) allows the player to place derailed cars back onto the rails, for a fee.

"Clear" (yellow beam) allows the player to delete a car from the world, for a fee (unless it was a spawned car, see below).

"Crew vehicle" (blue beam) allows the player to spawn a handcar or caboose, once they have been unlocked.

If "Comms radio spawn mode" is turn on in the "game" submenu of options, the "Spawner" and "Cargo loader" functions are unlocked for use. The train spawner allows spawning in any car onto an appropriate section of rail. The cargo loader allows you to load cargo onto these spawned cars.

The radio has a black and yellow color scheme and is branded with "Telelocotek".
