Gondola
A gondola car is an open-top wagon designed for delivering loose goods such as gravel, coal, for instance, but can be also used for bulk items such as rails or containers. It is generally distinguished from a Hopper by being completely rectangular, having cargo doors on the side rather than on the bottom, and/or being lower than an average Hopper.
Currently, the only freight for the gondola car type is scrap metal that is generated in cities for delivery to the Steel Mill, with empties returning.
Trivia
The Gondola takes elements from European and American style gondolas. The design itself appears based off general European principles, but it notably much lower, more similarly to American gondolas.
