On a diesel engine it turns on with the engine. On a steam engine it is manually activated. On the s282 it is located above the right cylinder. On the s060 it's on the left hand side. The air compressor is automatic and makes a chuffing sound on steam trains and a rumbling sound on diesels when it's running."
